About the Tour
The Glacier Grand Slam Tour offers you a full day of scenic activities in the Skaftafell region, combining a half a day hike where you will get up close to an icefall and experience panoramic views the glacier and surrounding mountains. a fun Zodiac Boat Trip in Fjallsárlón lagoon with an overview of Vatnajökull Glacier.
The tour starts from Skaftafell (next to the Visitors Center) You will be driven by bus from there to the front of Falljökull glacier (Falling Glacier). Here the hiking part of the tour starts where you will walk along a winding paths carved out by the glacier. When arriving at the tongue of the glacier you will get a quick safety instructions and you need to gear yourself with crampons before heading up towards the icefall. Your guide will lead the way as you will be walking through some amazing blue colored formations of ice. On this You will have plenty of time to take in the vast panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
Guests must provide their own transportation from Skaftafell to Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon after the glacier hike. You arrive back in Skaftafell around 14:00 which gives you about an hour to complete the 47 km journey to the Fjallárslón lagoon for the zodiac boat trip which starts at 15:00. It is possible for you to bring your own vehicle to the glacier car park which reduces the journey time by approximately 20 minutes.

What to bring:
a) Waterproof jacket and pants
b) Hiking boots (We advise against runners or any type of shoe that comes up below the ankle bone as the straps on the crampons can get a bit painful during the walk)
c) Light sweater, wool or fleece
d) Light synthetic or quick dry pants (Jeans are not suitable clothing
e) Thin Gloves and a Hat
f) Small Backpack (Can be handy to carry camera, rain gear and all extras)
g) Sunglasses and sun protection (It can get quite bright on the ice with the reflection)
h) Food and drinks (Lunch is not provided on any of our trips. June – September there is plenty of fresh water on the glacier so bring a bottle)
Waterproof clothing and hiking boots are available for rent. In Skaftafell many of the items above are offered for sale in the booking center.
