About the Tour
This tour offers you the chance of experience Reykjavik and its surroundings in an old wooden boat. You will get good views of the beautiful mountains and islands surrounding the city with sightings of birds and other wildlife on the way. This tour is ideal for families and culture minded individuals as it in holds a lot of art work and historic landmarks.
The tour begins in the old harbor, where you will be shown the maritime museum and the coast guard boat Óðinn (Odinn) The boat trip then departs from Ægisgarður (Aegisgardur). During the sightseeing tour you will be able to observe the popular puffins among other birds and wildlife as well as mountain views.
The boat trip also takes you to the historic island of Viðey (Videy), home to Yoko Ono ́s Imagine Peace Tower as well as the second oldest church in the country build in 1774.
From the boat you will see the avant- garde columns of the famous artist Richard Serra. On the way back on the boat trip you will pass the building Höfði (Hofdi) where the historical meeting of Gorbachev and Reagan took place in 1986 as well as the beautiful and symbolic sculpture The Sun Voyager (Sólfarið) by the artist Jon Gunnar Arnason. Passengers are then returned to the point of departure after an enjoyable trip.
